Privacy policy

What we collect

• Quote requests. The details you type into a request form: the service you need, your ZIP code, your email and, if you give it, your phone number, with the page you sent it from and the time.
• Messages. What you write when you email us, and your email address.
• Technical data. Your IP address and browser details reach our hosting provider with every page request; we use them to block spam and abuse of the forms and do not keep them with your request.
• Analytics. Pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, and device and browser type, collected through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which set cookies.

How we use it

A quote request comes to us first. We keep a record of it and pass it to one or more chimney companies listed on this site that serve your ZIP code, so they can contact you about the work you asked for. We use messages to answer you and to correct listings, and analytics to see which pages are useful and to fix problems. We do not use your request to send you marketing.

Who we share it with

• The chimney company or companies we pass your request to. You direct that disclosure by sending the request, and a company may pay us a referral fee for it.
• Service providers that process data for us: Cloudflare (hosting and form handling), Resend (email delivery), Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (analytics).
• Authorities, where the law requires it. We do not sell personal information for any other purpose and do not share it for advertising.

Business listings

Listing data (business name, address, phone, website, rating, review counts, hours, services, prices, certifications, logo) comes from public business listings, the company's own website and public registries. A business owner can claim a listing to correct it, or ask us to change or remove it, at hello@chimneycompare.com.

Retention

Quote requests are kept for 12 months and then deleted. Emails are kept as long as needed to answer them and fix the listing. Analytics data follows the providers' default retention.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@chimneycompare.com; we answer within 30 days. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws have these rights by law, and we honor them for everyone. You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Children

This site is for adults hiring a chimney service. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Security

Requests travel over HTTPS and are stored with our hosting provider. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.

We will post changes here and update the date at the top.
